Geomatics Mandate The NWT Centre for Geomatics was established in 1990 as the outcome of a joint Geomatics Technology Transfer Program between the Canada Centre for Geomatics, Energy, Mines and Resources Canada and the Department of Renewable Resources. Workshops, seminars and courses are held on a need basis to train individuals in the public and private sectors in Geomatics technology and geographic information systems, its applications and benefits to the North. The mandate of the Centre is to provide the public and private sector with access to equipment and expertise in remotely sensed data and geographic information systems; to provide technical support to all agencies with Geomatics and geographic information systems needs; to do remote sensing and geographic information systems projects, and to provide training courses in Geomatics and geographic information systems as required. In 1992, at the request of Cabinet, a fee-for-service structure on a cost recovery basis was implemented. | GNWT Home | ENR Home | ITI Home |
