Review the paragraphs below to determine what data you need then go to the Downloads section to get the data
files. You do need to register once before downloading any data files.
Digital satellite imagery
The NWTCG maintains an archive of digital satellite imagery created from data
purchased by the Centre or by clients for past projects. Copyright
restrictions and/or client ownership prohibit us from distributing much of
this data in its original digital form, but the data is available for project
work. Products developed from this data (paper maps, mosaics, georeferenced
digital imagery) may also be available.
Digital Landsat 7 ETM data that
you can download
Maps of satellite imagery
Geomatics projects often involve creating poster-size colour maps from
satellite imagery. These georeferenced images may have been prepared as
display materials for presentations or publications. Biologists, hydrologists,
geologists, prospectors and others have requested image maps for fieldwork
and for overlaying other data. We have some maps available for you to
download and print yourself. Plots of other digital satellite data and copies
of project data sometimes can be made available for a fee.
Satellite image transparencies
Satellite transparencies were collected in the 1980's for much of the
forested area of the Northwest Territories, and are used for mapping historic
extent of forest fires. These 9 x 9 inch colour transparencies of Landsat 5
TM imagery (30-m resolution) are approx. 1:1 million scale. They may be
viewed on light table or enlarged with a projector.
Mackenzie Valley
Air Photo Project This air photo project was undertaken to create a
public data set of the proposed Mackenzie Valley Pipeline route.
